Richard S. Wilson
As a member of the Firm’s Construction Law Group, Richard represents contractors, owners and developers in disputes arising from complex construction projects. Richard has extensive experience handling claims related to all aspects of the design and construction of commercial projects, including claims arising out of design errors and omissions, construction defects, project delay and acceleration, cumulative impacts, labor inefficiencies, payment disputes, and complex mechanic’s liens. Richard’s experience extends to both litigation and arbitration, and his practice is national in scope.
Richard’s practice has earned him recognition as a “Rising Star” by Illinois Super Lawyers, a “One to Watch” by Best Lawyers, and an “Emerging Lawyer” by Leading Lawyers.
- Represents a design-built contractor in Washington state court litigation involving numerous claims for design errors and omissions, project delay and acceleration, cumulative impacts, labor inefficiencies, and payment disputes arising from the design and construction of a major international airport.
- Achieved a favorable arbitration award on behalf of a Fortune 200 contractor involving construction defect claims asserted by the project owner in connection with the construction of a city public college.
- Represented an owner of a franchise restaurant in a Michigan state court litigation action involving claims for construction defects and payment disputes.
- Represented a developer in an Illinois state court action against a condominium association involving claims for construction defects.
- Represented a photovoltaic cable supplier in a federal court litigation action in the Northern District of Illinois involving claims for manufacturing defects against the cable manufacturer.
- Represents a Fortune 200 contractor in an Illinois state court action involving a subcontractor bid dispute.
- Represents a Fortune 200 contractor in an Illinois state court mechanic’s lien action.
Since 2023, Richard has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch© in the field of Construction Law.
Since 2018, Richard has been selected to the list of Illinois Rising Stars, a list published by Super Lawyers.
