Laurie A. Levin
Laurie Levin is a founding partner, Chair of the Banking & Corporate Finance Group, and Co-Chair of the Real Estate Group. She practices in the areas of real estate and corporate transactions and secured lending. Her clients include financial institutions, private equity companies, developers, property managers, business owners, franchisees and high net worth individuals. She heads the Firm’s corporate finance practice, consisting of real estate, corporate and asset-based financing, construction financing, loan sales, loan workouts and foreclosures. Additionally, she handles a wide variety of office, industrial and retail leasing, and represents a number of private equity investors in the acquisition and disposition of large retail chains, private placements and other investments.
Laurie is also outside general counsel to a significant private equity company and its affiliated entities, handling all internal matters for the company and family matters for its principal in addition to transaction-based matters for the company and its affiliates, including its institutional funds.
Laurie is the current Chair of the Board of the Highland Park Community Foundation.
- Represents a private equity firm as outside general counsel and handles all corporate, investment and transaction activities of the company and its affiliates, in addition to representation of the family office of the principal of the firm in connection with family investments and trust matters. Private equity transactions include, among others, investment, ownership and operation of supermarket chains (in U.S. and Uruguay), co-work facilities in California, hotels in Brazil and a chlorine business with plants in Brazil, Uruguay and the U.S.
- Represents major regional bank in connection with its real estate loans, lines of credit and asset-based financings.
- Represents real estate investment company with respect to its ownership of shopping centers throughout the U.S., office buildings and other real estate assets, including leasing, purchase and sale and financing matters.
- Represents real estate developer in connection with acquisitions and development of investment properties throughout the U.S., including leasing, purchase and sale and financing matters.
- Represents real estate investment companies in connection with acquisition and financing of properties throughout the U.S.
Laurie was named one of “Chicago’s Most Notable Women Lawyers 2018” by Crain’s Custom Media.
Laurie has been named a Leading Lawyer in commercial and finance real estate law, closely & privately held business law, and corporate finance law by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company since 2004. Only lawyers who are most often recommended by their peers in the statewide surveys are included in Leading Lawyers Magazine.
In addition, since 2022, Laurie has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© in the field of Banking and Finance Law and Real Estate Law.
