Edward B. Keidan

Edward Keidan is a Partner in the Firm’s Chambers-ranked Construction Law Group. Ed’s practice concentrates on public and private construction-related litigation, arbitration, and transactions across all sectors of the industry. Ed has experience representing all participants in the construction process, including general contractors, design-builders, trade contractors, design professionals, and owners. Ed has negotiated and drafted many construction contracts and subcontracts, and is a veteran of numerous trials, arbitrations, and mediations. Ed’s practice is nationwide in scope, and he has litigated construction claims in state and federal courts around the country, as well as arbitration.

Ed is a frequent speaker at construction industry seminars, most recently on the AIA family of construction documents and public contracting issues. His expertise in construction law has been recognized by his selection as a member the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys and as a fellow in the Construction Lawyers Society of America.

• Prosecuted claims on behalf of general contractor on multiple solar powered electrical generating facilities, involving unpaid base and extra-contractual work and rescission of notices of termination
• Represented electrical contractor in connection with claims for out-of-scope work on hydroelectric dam project
• Prosecuted $30 million claim on behalf of project manager against foreign governmental entity at the ICC International Court of Arbitration, arising out of a new airport project
• Represented owner of large logistics facility in Mississippi in connection with investigating and prosecuting claims arising out of building settlement and unsuitable soils
• Prosecuted claim for damages incurred by general contractor on large apartment building, where designer and subcontractors caused delay and other damages when a structural column buckled during construction
• Prosecuted claim for differing site conditions on behalf of general contractor against public owner
• Successfully defended general contractor against antitrust claims related to the bid process
• Prosecuted a claim at trial on behalf of general contractor against the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, arising out of drop shaft rehabilitation project associated with tunneling system at O’Hare International Airport
• Represented EPC contractor in connection with claims arising out of a terminated power plant project in northwest Illinois
• Prosecuted change order claims for a general contractor against a private owner, and defended against contractor claims
• Represented curtain wall designer, supplier and installer at arbitration involving claims for out-of-scope work, delays, acceleration, and design defects
• Drafted and negotiated dozens of contracts on behalf of owners and general contractors on projects including stadiums, high-rise residential, hotels, schools, EPC solar, and other projects
