Adam A. Hachikian

Adam Hachikian is a partner in the Litigation Group. He is an experienced trial attorney with extensive experience across state and federal courts as well as in various alternative dispute resolution forums.

Adam’s practice includes representation of corporate and individual clients in connection with all facets of business disputes, including contract claims, tort claims and statutory claims. He frequently represents commercial landlords and tenants in complex lease disputes. He has also has represented numerous court-appointed receivers in foreclosure actions. Adam regularly handles fiduciary disputes between trustees and beneficiaries. He also has represented several owners of closely-held entities as part of “business divorces.”

Adam is a strategic litigator who knows how to find the best options to resolve his clients’ disputes. He excels at explaining even the most complicated issues to clients so they can make well-informed decisions. Adam has an unflappable demeanor that allows him to navigate contentious matters and build rapport with opposing counsel and judges.

Adam is a member of the Trial Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

  • Represented numerous landlords in commercial lease disputes, including multiple successful trial verdicts as well as negotiated resolutions.
  • Represented minority shareholder in closely-held LLC and obtained trial verdict requiring majority beneficiaries to purchase client’s interests at fair market value. Verdict was affirmed on appeal.
  • Represented officer and owner in internal corporate dispute and obtained complete buyout and severance.
  • Represented insurance carrier in connection with mass tort claims in bankruptcy proceedings involving multi-week trial and billions of dollars of potential claims.
  • Represented beneficiaries in multi-million dollar family trust disputes, against corporate and individual trustees involving claims of breach of fiduciary duties.
  • Obtained multi-million dollar judgment in contract dispute and defeated multiple post-judgment challenges while simultaneously navigating cross-border enforcement proceedings.
  • Obtained dismissal with prejudice of securities fraud claims against investor in closely-held business and had dismissal upheld on appeal.
  • Obtained judgment on the pleadings for parent company in lease guaranty case, which was affirmed on appeal after oral arguments.
  • Defeated $1.6 million indemnification claim between former business partners in arbitration proceeding.
  • Represented corporate officer in evidentiary hearing and defeated multiple requests for injunctive relief and sanctions.
  • Represented receivers in multiple foreclosure proceedings, including ancillary eviction proceedings and lease negotiations. In one such matter, successfully obtained multiple TROs against the borrower for interference with receiver’s rights and duties.

From 2011-2013, Adam was named to the list of Illinois Rising Stars, a list published by Super Lawyers. Rising Stars uses a patented multiphase selection process which includes peer nominations and evaluations combined with third-party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement.
