Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Statement
Fox Swibel has had a longstanding commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, and remains firmly committed to DEIA as an integral part of our core culture. We are proud our efforts have been rewarded with the coveted Mansfield Certification, which recognizes qualifying law firms for affording fair and equal opportunity in hiring and promoting practices.
Our core asset is our people, and our core goal is to provide the highest quality service to our clients. Our years of expanding opportunities to a more diverse talent pool have undeniably enriched our firm and enhanced service to our clients. Those expanded opportunities ensure that in hiring, promoting and all other aspects of firm culture, we increase the talent pool from which we draw in order to hire the highest quality candidates from all walks of life, and we afford our attorneys and staff the chance to utilize their varied gifts and maximize their potential.
We also take pride in our community outreach and volunteer efforts. In addition to sponsoring numerous organizations and events that promote justice, inclusiveness and integrity, we periodically organize our lawyers and staff to give back to our community. Those efforts include building homes for Habitat for Humanity and taking part in the “Letters to Santa” program and providing gifts to children in Chicago’s Avondale community whose families are experiencing hardship.
Overall, we pledge to continue to convey, in our rhetoric and actions, that DEIA is not only a part of delivering the highest quality service to our clients, but our reaffirmation that DEIA values enrich us all.
Pride Month
At Fox Swibel, we recognize Pride Month as a time for celebration with our LGBTQ+ friends and family. June is a time to stand firm against the erosion of dearly won legal protections, such as the Supreme Court cases of Obergefell v. Hodges (2015), which recognized the fundamental constitutional right of same-sex couples to marry, and Bostock v. Clayton County (2020), which ruled that civil rights law protects individuals from workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation. As we commemorate and revel in Pride festivities this month, let us remember the achievements that have allowed more people to lead authentic lives, and commit to speaking up and being better allies to ensure the basic freedoms of equality and acceptance for everyone in our communities.
