Manager/Director of Business Development

Under the direction of the Marketing Committee and in conjunction with the Director of Administration, the Manager/Director of Business Development is responsible for overseeing, developing and integrating marketing and business development programs and strategic directions. We are seeking an individual who is a mentor by nature with the ability to achieve consensus decisions among the Firm’s leadership.

Successful candidate is skilled in uncovering opportunities for the firm, able to identify and apply client retention techniques and has good experience in constructing compelling proposal elements which resonate with the recipient. This position participates in practice group meetings, analyzes billings, performs industry research, creates content for the Firm’s website, monitors progress, and develops systems for tracking the results of growth initiatives.

Critical skills:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a legal marketing environment
  • solid understanding of business development strategies
  • excellent project management and presentation skills
  • diplomatic and politically astute
  • proven effective negotiation and relationship management with vendors

Other areas of focus are development of marketing materials, business development training, events, evaluating sponsorship opportunities, budgeting, proposals, RFP responses, PowerPoint presentations, ads, vendor management and relations, and public relations (including media and community relations).
